Mission Statement

The mathematics program at Eastchester High School strives to develop students' problem-solving skills, confidence in their mathematical ability and appreciation of the relevance of mathematics to today's society. By offering a variety of courses for students with a wide range of abilities, the mathematics program ensures that students meet and exceed New York State requirements. Students are challenged and encouraged to reach their full potential with skills that will carry them through the university and/or the workplace.

Math Honor Society
To be eligible for induction to the Eastchester High School
Mathematics Honor Society, students must demonstrate
academic excellence, excellent character, and fulfill a service
requirement.
Academically, students must maintain a 90 average in mathematics courses,
an 88 overall average, have completed 3 years of high school math and
currently enrolled in a high school math course.
Students must demonstrate excellent character.
The service requirement includes student participation in all MHS sponsored
activities (i.e. tutoring and math team)

Peer Tutoring
The mathematics department is proud to offer peer tutoring from
Mathematics Honor Society members. Students in the Mathematics Honor
Society are required to tutor one of their peers for one half hour per week.
Students who would like to have a student tutor should see Ms. Barbara in
room H104.

**Student tutors are limited. Requests will be granted in the order in which
the requests are received.

Math Team
The math team competes in the Westchester Interscholastic Mathematics
League against schools in our area. The meets are typically held in the EHS
cafeteria on the first Monday of every month. Top scorers can qualify for
the New York State Mathematics League Final.
